Bite-Sized Science: Studying Tornado Damage With UAS
Researchers at NOAA National Severe Storms Lab are using Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) to study storm damage in rural areas. The multispectral camera provides imagery that shows damage to vegetation. The goal is to improve the accuracy of the NOAA Storm Event Database, which is referenced by the NOAA National Weather Service to predict future tornado outbreaks.
