Introduction for Dr Dusan Zrnic
- Dr Zrnic was Born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia
- He received his Ph.D. EE in 1969 University of Illinois
- He Currently Leads the Doppler Radar and Remote Sensing Research group at the NSSL
- Dr Zrnic is an Adjunct Professor of Electrical Engineering & Meteorology at OU
- For the past 20 years concentrated on
- development of algorithms for NEXRAD and
- polarimetric radar and its application to weather, which we hope will play a critical role in advancing QPE – and improving flash flood warnings
- Dr Zrnic is both an AMS Fellow and IEEE Fellow
- He co-authored the book Doppler Radar and Weather Observations with Dr. Doviak
- He was a co-recipient of the IEEE 1988 Harry Diamond Memorial Award
- A recipient of the 1993 IEEE Donald G. Fink Prize Award
- And a recipient of the World Meteorological Organization 1996 Vaisala award with Dr. Ryzhkov (also of NSSL and CIMMS)
