Cloud band reflectivity observed with radar ( θe = 8° )

Notes:
At 40 km and 8 degrees of elevation the cloud is at an altitude of about 6 km height above radar level. The line of enhanced reflectivity is due to echoes from the cloud particles, or refractive index irregularities within the cloud.
