Binger Tornado Spectra (direct measurements of tornadic winds with HPRF Doppler)

Notes:
The Binger storm occurred on 22 May 1981 measurements of tornadic winds (90 m s-1 = 201 miles per hour). At the time these are the highest wind speeds directly measured with pulsed Doppler radar. The first direct measurements of tornadic winds with high PRF Doppler radar were made on the Del City tornado on the 20th of May, 1977. The first pulsed Doppler measurements of tornadic winds were made with NSSL’s NRO radar in 1973 (i.e., the Stillwater tornado).
