Loop of the Nexrad KICT radar from 7/21/96 23:27 UTC to 7/22/96 00:20 UTC. A couple of boundaries can be seen to the southwest of Wichita. One boundary starts around 60 km to the west and loops around remaining 60 km from Wichita to its south. This boundary shifts southwestward over the 1 hour loop. This boundary is the surface front. Another boundary can be seen further to the southwest from the city of Barber, KS down into Oklahoma to the northeast of Alva. This boundary is moving northeastward towards the surface front. Winds behind the sfc. front are from the northeast. Not many echoes exist, but at the beginning of the loop you can see movement is from the southeast in between the two boundaries. Although you can't tell from this loop, winds behind the second boundary are out of the southwest. As you can see by this time, some convection has initiated along the secondary boundary. This secondary boundary is discussed further in my review.
