In this talk, the Spanish contribution to the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) Mission will be presented. This includes the UCLM disdrometers array for ground validation, numerical modeling approaches, and satellite precipitation algorithms. In terms of related research, the techniques and algorithms involved include the physically-based cloud motion vectors approach and the maximum entropy method. Also, spectral analysis of precipitation series from satellite and climate simulations, and an analysis of the probability distribution functions of precipitation arising from models will be briefly discussed.
