Description of data collected during the Summer 2004 field campaign

On this page, the data collected during the Summer 2004 field campaign will be available, especially those from the Vegetation and the Sounding network components. Currently, (December 2004) most of the data are still being checked for quality control and not ready to be disseminated.

The following data sets will be available:

1. Pilot balloon soundings
Number of stations: 23
Frequency: twice a day
Period: MAY/JUNE–SEP 30 (varies with the station)

2. Thermodynamic soundings
Number of stations: 2 (Tesopaco and Puerto Penasco)
Frequency: Penasco once a day, Tesopaco twice daily
Period: JUNE/JULY–SEP 30 (varies with the station)

~100 soundings (GPS and non-GPS combined) were made aboard the CICESE ship during two cruises (JUL6-22 and AUG6-22)


3. Thetered balloon soundings (Vegetation Project and CICESE ship)
Number of stations: 1 (Tesopaco)

Frequency: Variable according to the IOP’s: 03JUN-11JUN, 29JUN-03JUL, 14JUL-27JUL, 05AUG-30SEP

8-10 tethered balloon soundings were made aboard the CICESE ship in August.

4. Daily precipitation data (Vegetation project)
Number of stations: ~200
Frequency: 24-hour accumulated precipitation
Period: 15JUN-15OCT approximately, varies with the station

5. Cloud photography (Vegetation Project)
Number of stations: 1
Frequency: every 30 minutes, except for during IOP #4
Periods: 03JUN-11JUN, 29JUN-03JUL, 14JUL-27JUL, 05AUG-30SEP

6. Foliage photography (Vegetation Project)
Number of locations: 17 between Tesopaco and La Estrella
Frequency: Variable. Every 2 days during the leaf-out period.

 Periods: 03JUN-11JUN, 29JUN-03JUL, 14JUL-27JUL, 05AUG-30SEP
