Taking advantage of the large number of upper air and rainfall observations that were programmed for the SALLJEX field campaign, the initially designed raingauge network was extended to the Altiplano region with a particular interest over the Lake Titicaca area. The main objective was to describe the mesoscale convective rainfall induced by the lake, which is associated to frequent early morning convective storms. Two short field campaigns were also organized to study the effects of the lakes and dry salt lakes (salares) in the generation and distribution of rainfall in the region. The details about the raingauge network and the field campaigns can be found in this site. Feel free to use the left frame to access the information that interests you.
