ALTIPLANO EXPERIMENTS ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

These experiments were possible thanks to many people and the help of institutions such as the Servicio Nacional de Meteorología e Hidrología (SENAMHI) from Peru, the Instituto Geofísico del Perú (IGP), the Servicio Nacional de Meteorología e Hidrología (SENAMHI) from Bolivia, the Administración de Aeropuertos y Servicios de Navegación Aérea (AASANA) and the Universidad Mayor de San Andres, both in Bolivia as well. The funding for most of the logistical costs associated with the activity came from SALLJEX sounding and raingauge projects sponsored by NOAA's Office of Global Programs.

Raingauge Network Installation

Firstly we want to thank the Puno volunteers who devoted a short time every single day to measure rainfall in their backyards. Without you this data set would have not been possible. Many thanks to Raquel Orozco, Teresa García, Carmen Reyes and Jonathan Cardenas who travelled town to town to deploy the entire peruvian raingauge network, and who also collected the data at the end of the 2003 rainy season. This dataset is available thanks to you. Also thanks to other people from IGP and SENAMHI in Peru who made possible the the rainfall data availability.

Lake Titicaca Experiment

We would like to thank all the participants for their great effort, dedication, patience and hard work, which made possible the execution of this experiment. Furthermore, we would also like to thank all the people who gave us their trust, time, dedication and friendship, but especially their homes. Thanks a lot to Roger Incahuanaco and family at Taraco. Thanks a lot to Maximo Pacurricuna and family at Conima. Thanks a lot to the Santa Rosa de Huayllata community, and thanks a lot to Alfredo Aparicio and family at the Conde de Lemos Inn in Puno. Thanks a lot to SENAMHI for their great support in every moment. Special thanks to Carmen Reyes, Teresa García, Raquel Orozco, Roberto Catacora, and Rimort Chávez for organizing this experiment.

Salar de Uyuni Experiment

Thanks to all of the participants for their great effort, dedication, patience and hard work, which made possible the field campaign. Much of the coordination and organizational activities within Bolivia were supervised by Guillermina Miranda of the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés, and Felix Trujillo from SENAMHI. The participation of the many AASANA personnel was supervised and organized by Roberto Catacora of AASANA - La Paz. The success of the observations at each site was due to the efforts of each individual at each of the sites (listed in the participant list).
