The Flood Observations - Citizens As Scientists using Technology Project (FLOCAST) was launched in early 2013 in order to collect citizen observations of flooding across the United States. The primary goal of the FLOCAST project is to collect detailed reports on flooding in order to help improve flash flood predictions tools, and specificity to help improve flash flood warnings in the US, thus saving lives and protecting infrastructure. The FLOCAST team is comprised of researchers and students who use an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to achieve the goal.
