NSSL featured in weather issue of Oklahoma Today magazine

The National Severe Storms Laboratory and other NOAA weather organizations in Norman are prominently featured in the May/June issue of Oklahoma Today. A special edition of the state's official magazine provides "a complete look into Oklahoma's most amazing feature, the sky above."

NSSL Director Jeff Kimpel and senior scientist Dusan Zrnic are two of 10 people featured in a photo of leaders in the science, education, and business of meteorology in Norman.

In a feature about Norman's weather industry growth, Kimpel is quoted often, explaining the early development of weather organizations in Norman, their growth, and future opportunities.

A sidebar story features a photo of the phased array radar at NSSL, with Kimpel quoted describing how it works and what the Lab hopes to accomplish with it.

NSSL researcher Harold Brooks contributed many maps and graphics to a feature on the state's four seasons. Keli Tarp, NOAA public affairs specialist, also was recognized as a contributor.
