Hot Items 2005 CNN Program Features NSSL Deputy Director
A program about new weather forecasting technology produced by CNN features an interview with Kevin Kelleher, NSSL's Deputy Director.
The documentary program called "Global Challenges" focuses on sustainable development and is seen in over 200 countries each month, across all regions. A vast majority of their packages feature new technologies that are used to benefit people around the world.
The producers interviewed Kelleher about the types of technologies NOAA is developing in Norman, Okla., to track severe weather. The new experimental phased array radar was emphasized, as well as other radar research such as the planned dual-polarization upgrade of the WSR-88D and display systems such as WDSS-II.
Kelleher's friends actually saw the program on CNN in Switzerland and in Germany.
