Norman Doppler Radar comes downA s After 30 years of service the Norman Doppler Radar was dismantled. Researchers used the radar from 1971 to 1992 to conduct severe weather research and to create NEXRAD. A new phased array radar will begin to be built in its place this summer. A celebration was held on April 12, 2002 to honor the work and the
people who were a part of the research connected with the radar.
