NSSL often provides funding for collaborative research projects to the Cooperative Institute for Mesoscale Meteorological Studies (CIMMS), a joint institute formed between NOAA and the University of Oklahoma (OU). For the duration of these research projects, CIMMS employees are located at NSSL.
