Magazine Article Draws Praise

Captain Miller and Colonel Fawbush like Post article.
It was a good story!
That is the joint opinion of Lt. Col. E. J. Fawbush and Capt. Robert
C. Miller, weather officers extraordinary; who are in charge of the
Severe Weather Warning center operated by the Tinker-based
2060th Mobile Weather squadron. The reference was to Pat McDermott's
article entitled "Flash-Tornado Warning," which appeared in The
Saturday Evening Post last week.
"After reading the article I'm inclined to believe Miss McDermott must
be a weather observer, herself," grinned Captain Miller. "What makes the
whole thing so unusual is that she never came here for an interview.
The whole thing was handled by correspondence," he added.
It's good that this unusual writer did an unusual story and its principal
subjects are two unusual weather men, for Colonel Fawbush and Captain
Miller are just that.
Out of more than 200 predictions based on their special weather formula,
the Fawbush-Miller weather team has been 90 percent correct. When asked
how they got started on their theory, Colonel Fawbush said, "It was like
Topsy. It just grew and grew and grew." As for that, these officers
deserve the Congressional medal plus, plus and plus, because they dared
to follow through.
But there's one thing Miss McDermott failed to mention. Tinker has the
only Severe Storm Warning center in the world. It is located in a modest
25x70 frame building in the heart of the military area. Here is where the two
officers make their studies and prepare severe weather data for the U. S.
Air Force.
